Repointing

Repointing brickwork is a skilled craft. It is also known as "pointing" or "tuck pointing", it is the process of removing deteriorated mortar from the joints of a brick wall and replacing it with new.

Left is before the repointing and relaying of loose bricks. . .

. .and right is after the repointing, relaying of loose bricks and an elastomeric flash seal.

Chimney Crown

A chimney crown is a masonry roof that covers the top of your chimney. It prevents water from seeping into the masonry below. Water damaged or cracked chimney crowns can lead to costly chimney repairs. If the mortar crown is loose, crumbling, or severely deteriorated, it should be replaced with a new cement crown. If the crown is damaged but structurally sound, it can be effectively repaired.

Above are excellent examples of perfect cement crown encasements and new caps.

A new cement crown takes little time to complete but the difference afterwards is great and a vital part in preventing water damage.
