Cast In Place Lining Systems
Cast in Place Lining System takes approximately 2-4 days to complete. First a rubber bladder or former is inserted into the chimney and inflated to the desired flue dimension. Metal spring like coils are wrapped around the former about every two feet top to bottom allowing space between the flue and the exterior wall for Golden Flue cement to fill. The Golden Flue mix is now mixed to the exact ratio and consistency and poured from the top around the former while a motor, attached to the former, vibrates and shakes the mix to the bottom. About an hour after mix is poured any thimbles or smoke chambers will be hand carved before the mix cures fully. The former is left in place to cure for a period of 24-72 hours, weather permitting. We now return to deflate and remove former, revealing a perfectly round, insulated flue.
Golden Flue poured liner installation photos
These photos show the flue being sealed at the base to prevent the leakage of the high temp. cement mix.
We had a mixing station set up on the roof.
The mixture is then poured down the flue with the former keeping the middle clear. A normal cast in place cement lining system takes approximately 2-4 days.
Picture 4 shows the former at the basement level. The former/bladder is installed with high temperature cement mix poured around it and then allowed to dry.
We will return after it has fully cured and deflate and remove it. Leaving a functioning, insulated and lifetime guaranteed flue.
